Inside the Fighters Community: June 2026 Edition

Updated: 3 hours ago

Fighting for Health. Fighting for Life. Fighting Together.

A Message from Chef Charles

Fighters,

Every day presents us with a choice: to move closer to health or further away from it. The journey isn't always easy, and sometimes the results come slower than we'd like. But remember, every healthy meal,

every walk, every positive choice is a victory.

This month, I encourage you to stay committed to your health goals. Don't focus only on the destination— celebrate the progress you make each day. The Fighters Community is filled with people who are proving that change is possible.

Keep fighting. Keep believing. Keep growing.

Your Chief Fighter,

Chef Charles Smith

Recipe of the Month

The Fighters Wild Rice & Cranberry Power Salad

Strength in every bite.

This colorful bowl is packed with plant-powered energy, fiber, and bold flavor. The combination of wild rice, cranberries, fresh vegetables, and pecans creates a satisfying dish that fuels the body while supporting heart health, digestion, and lasting energy. Fighters understand that healthy food does not have to be boring — it can be vibrant, powerful, and full of purpose.

Origin Heritage: Ojibwe People

Health Benefits: Rich in antioxidants • Anti-inflammatory • High in Fiber • Nutrient-dense

Ingredients: Wild Rice • Dried Cranberries • Chopped Pecans • Fresh Herbs • Citrus Dressing

Directions:

1. Cook and cool the rice.

45 min.

Cook your wild rice according to package instructions (usually boiled in water or broth for 40–45 minutes until the grains puff open). Drain any excess liquid and let it cool until it is warm, but no longer steaming.

2. Toast the pecans.

5 min.

Toast the chopped pecans in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3–5 minutes until they are fragrant and slightly darkened. Remove them from the hot pan immediately so they don't burn, and set them aside.

3.  Marinate the fruit.

2 min.

In your large serving bowl, toss the warm wild rice with the dried cranberries and half of your citrus dressing. The residual heat will plump up the cranberries and pull the bright citrus flavors deep into the rice grains.

4. Combine and herb.

2 min.

Once the rice has cooled closer to room temperature, fold in the fresh herbs (like chopped parsley, mint, or green onions) and the remaining dressing. Adding herbs to cooled rice keeps them vibrant and prevents them from wilting.

5. Finish with crunch.

1 min.

Just before serving, scatter the toasted pecans throughout the salad. Give it one gentle toss so they stay crisp. The Fighters Reminder

Every meal is an opportunity to fight for your health. When you choose foods filled with color, fiber, and plant-powered nutrition, you are choosing strength, energy, and life.

Fuel your body with purpose.

Feed your future.

Live like a Fighter. 💪🌱

Chef's Tip: This salad tastes even better after sitting for an hour, making it perfect for meal prep or gatherings. If you pull it out of the fridge later and it feels a bit dry, just revive it with a quick squeeze of fresh orange or lemon juice.
